How to choose the right glass water pipe

All-glass setups give you the best flavor, but a few details will help you pick the perfect piece:

Glass thickness: Heavier, thicker glass (5 mm and up) is more resistant to bumps and tips, making it ideal for daily use.
Height & volume: Shorter bongs (under 10") are easier to store and clear. Taller tubes and beakers offer more cooling and bigger clouds, but need more lung power.
Percolation level: Simple downstem or single-perc pieces are easier to clean. Multi-perc and recycler styles stack diffusion for extra-smooth hits.
Joint size & angle: The most common joint size is 14 mm; 18 mm is great for bigger rips. Choose the angle (usually 45° or 90°) that matches the bowls, bangers and ash catchers you plan to use.
Ice pinches & splash guards: Ice catchers let you add cubes for colder, denser smoke, while splash guards keep water where it belongs — in the base.

Care, cleaning & glass accessories

Glass rewards you when you keep it clean. A little regular maintenance keeps flavor fresh and your piece looking new.

Pair your bong with fresh bowls & slides and ash catchers to keep resin from building up in the main chamber.
Use quality glass cleaners and pipe screens for quick rinses between deeper cleans.
Consider a dedicated downstem or adapter if you want to switch between different joint sizes or add a banger for concentrates.

Regular quick rinses plus an occasional deep soak will keep your glass sparkling, your percs unclogged and every rip tasting as smooth as the first.
